Game term

If your draw pile is empty, the discard pile is shuffled into the draw pile.

Cards go to the Discard Pile when played, unless they Exhaust or are Powers, when an effect discards them, and when your Hand is flushed at the end of turn.
Whenever you need to draw and the Draw Pile is empty, the whole Discard Pile is shuffled into the Draw Pile at once, and shuffle triggers such as The Abacus fire then.
Only a draw causes the shuffle; the pile never reshuffles on its own at end of turn.
Clicking the pile lists every card in it.
Cards moved from the Discard Pile straight to your Hand skip the shuffle entirely, and a flushed card is not a discard, so discard triggers stay quiet at turn end.

Digging in: Dredge puts 3 cards from the Discard Pile into your Hand, Aggression pulls a random Attack each turn and upgrades it, Calculated Gamble refills your Hand by discarding it first.
Discard triggers: pay off Sly cards and Tough Bandages (3 Block per discard on your turn); The Abacus gives 6 Block on every shuffle, so thin decks that cycle often get more from it.
Never enters: cards with Retain never enter the pile at end of turn.
