Tinker Time event art, Slay the Spire 2

Tinker Time

Navigating through an endless sea of corpses, you find a mad scientist scavenging for various scraps.

“Yes. Hi, hello! You look like a capable fighter... I need a tester for my next atrocity device! How about it?”
“What kind of tool will help you kill everyone?”
“Excellent choice! Now what should it DO?”
The scientist rubs her hands together with glee.
“Whew! All done. This is for you! Now get out there and slaughter!!”

Little did you know, that scientist went on to create hundreds of weapons, resulting in several thousand deaths within the Spire.

Which option to take

Every version is above rate for 1 Energy. Prefer Violence for damage, Expertise for a Power you want on turn one, and Energized, which nets 1 Energy plus 8 Block. Upgrade it early so it is always in your opening hand.

CardRandom
  • Chaos and Improvement are the weakest riders.

How it plays

Accept

  • Accept is the only opening choice. The scientist shows two of three card types at random: Weapon makes an Attack, Protector a Skill, Gadget a Power.
  • Then you see two of that type's three riders, again at random, and the result is Mad Science, a 1-cost card added to your deck.
  • Upgrading makes it Innate.

An Attack card

  • Deals 12 damage; riders are Sapping (apply 2 Weak and 2 Vulnerable), Violence (hit three times, 36 total) and Choking (apply 6 Strangle, the enemy loses 6 HP per card you play that turn).

A Skill card

  • Gains 8 Block; riders are Energized (gain 2 Energy), Wisdom (draw 3 cards) and Chaos (add a random card from your pool to hand, free this turn).

A Power card

  • Has no base effect, only its rider: Expertise (2 Strength and 2 Dexterity), Curious (Powers cost 1 less) or Improvement (upgrade a random card when each combat ends).
