Turn 1

How to beat Spiny Toad

  • Turn one: free, before it has spiked.
  • Turn two: the spiky one. Hold multi-hit attacks and use skills, powers or single big hits instead, since Thorns pays out per hit.
  • Turns three and four: clean, then the pattern repeats.
  • Block: 23 on the Explosion turn and 17 on the Lash turn.
  • HP: 116 to 119. It takes four to six turns, so respect the spiky turn and do not waste Block on the Spikes turn, when it deals nothing.

Notes

  • HP 116 to 119 (121 to 124 at Ascension 8+).
  • It is a solo Hive normal-pool encounter.
  • The Explosion's Thorns removal is exactly minus 5, so Thorns never stacks between loops.
  • Its pose changes while it is spiky, which is a handy visual cue for the dangerous turn.
