Rest site options

Every rest site option, what it does and what puts it on the menu.

A rest site always offers Rest, which heals 30% of your Max HP, and Smith, which upgrades one card; in co-op it also offers Mend, a 30% heal for a teammate.

Everything else on the menu comes from something you carry: Shovel adds Dig, Girya adds Train, Pumpkin Candle adds Kindle, Meat Cleaver adds Cook, a Byrdonis Egg adds Hatch and Pael's Growth adds Clone.

You take one option per visit unless you hold Miniature Tent.

Each of those cards gets one copy.

NeedsPael's Growth

  • Always there. Rest and Smith are always on the menu. Mend is added only when the run has more than one player.
  • The order on screen. Everything else is added by a relic or a card you carry, so the order on screen follows the order your relics were obtained.
  • Train is Lift. Train is the button's on-screen name for the Lift option, and it disappears from the menu after the third use.
  • Dig. It pulls from the front of the same relic list that elites and chests draw from, with a full rarity roll rather than a Shop-rarity pull. A Shovel dig can hand you the relic your next elite would have dropped.
  • Train. It does not apply Strength at the fire. Girya itself grants one Strength per banked lift when each combat room is entered, so three early lifts are worth 3 Strength in every remaining fight.
  • Kindle. It always adds 5 charges regardless of how many are left. An empty candle is disabled rather than removed, so it can be lit again later.

How much Rest heals

The base heal is Max HP times 0.3, with the fraction dropped. An 80 HP Ironclad heals 24 and a 66 HP Necrobinder 19.

Changes the heal

After the heal

On walking in

  • Dense VegetationThis event copies the Rest option, so Regal Pillow, Stone Humidifier, Dream Catcher and Tiny Mailbox all apply there too. Night Terrors skips its Max HP tax on a copied rest.

One choice per visit

  • Miniature TentPicking an option that succeeds locks the rest of the menu. The tent keeps every option open for its owner, so you can Rest, Smith and Dig at the same fire.
  • Cancelling is free. An option that ends without doing anything does not count: cancelling the card picker on Smith or Cook leaves the menu open.
  • Smith. It upgrades one card by default. Other effects can raise that count.
  • Midas. The Midas modifier deletes Smith from the list entirely.
  • Cook. It is greyed out until you hold at least two cards the game considers removable.
  • The map's hover box for these rooms is the Rest Site keyword, and the Cook keyword explains the cleaver option.
