How to beat Wrigglers

Four Wrigglers

  • Wriggler: four of them, 17 to 21 HP each, reached by resting in the Dense Vegetation event.
  • Moves: they alternate Nasty Bite for 6 with Wriggle, which drops an Infection into your discard pile and gives that Wriggler 2 Strength.
  • Slots 1 and 3 open with Nasty Bite and slots 2 and 4 with Wriggle, so every turn two bite and two wriggle: 12 damage and 2 Infections a turn to start, each bite growing 2 every other turn.
  • Infection is unplayable and costs 3 HP if it ends your turn in hand.

Spread the damage

  • Each Wriggler is fragile, so spread damage on purpose: kill the two about to Wriggle first, since a Wriggler that has wriggled twice bites for 10.
  • Area damage clears the room in two or three turns.
  • Without it, discard or exhaust the Infections, and prefer killing over blocking while the bites are still 6.

At higher Ascension

  • Ascension 8+: each Wriggler has 18 to 22 HP.
  • Ascension 9+: Nasty Bite deals 7.

Where it appears

Event-only fight with no act pool: the event appears in Overgrowth and offers it only after you choose to Rest, which heals you as a rest site would. It pays the standard monster rewards, 10 to 20 gold, and the event does not resume afterward. Wrigglers also appear in Phrog Parasite.
