The gain is permanent Strength, so it keeps building for the whole fight. Nothing happens on the turn you play it; the first payoff comes at your next turn start.

Notes
Two copies add up to 4 (or 5, or 6) per turn. It runs off the turn-start hook for your side, before the draw. Temporary Strength losses such as Dark Shackles are subtracted and returned around it. The real cost is a 3-Energy setup turn; in short fights it never repays that.
