How to beat Inklets
Three Inklets
Inklet: three of them, 11 to 17 HP each, every one carrying 1 Slippery. The first time an Inklet loses HP it loses exactly 1 instead, and the stack is spent.
The middle Inklet opens with Whirlwind, three hits of 2. The outer two open with Jab for 3. From then on each rolls between Piercing Gaze, one hit for 10, and Whirlwind, never the same move twice running, and always Jabs on the turn after either.
Slippery wastes big hits
Slippery makes single big hits a waste: a 20-damage strike removes 1 HP, and a 1-damage ping strips the stack just as well. Multi-hit cards and anything that lands two or more times kill Inklets efficiently.
Sweep all three with area damage: the first sweep pops every Slippery stack and the second finishes them.
Incoming damage is 9 to 16 a turn depending on how many roll Piercing Gaze, so it is safe to spend a turn setting up.
At higher Ascension
- Ascension 8+: 12 to 18 HP.
- Ascension 9+: Jab 4, Whirlwind 3 per hit, Piercing Gaze 11.
Where it appears
The Inklet appears nowhere else. The code declares an unused random opener that is never entered, and Piercing Gaze is hidden from the Bestiary.
