Tablet of Truth event art, Slay the Spire 2

Tablet of Truth

You defeat a pair of Guardian Kin and make your way into a protected vault.

Inside is a tablet with familiar inscriptions. Your intuition tells you that this language can be deciphered rather easily... However, once you begin deciphering you'll be locked in.

The tablet gives off a soothing energy and you can smash it to receive its healing energies instead.
As you begin deciphering the tablet, the Kin's Mantra speaks to you.

“The Truth is everything...”
You feel faint from all this reading!

Heroes weren't meant to read for such an extended period of time...
You're barely holding on...
The tablet is nearly deciphered. The Mantra holds the truth...

THE TRUTH!! WHAT IS THE TRUTH!?
In a trance, you decipher the remaining text, abandoning mind and body. The spiritual pursuit of the Truth is all that matters.

Or does it? One final word remains...
It will cost everything.
Everything was spent to decipher the Final Word and you black out...
When you come to, you realize something is etched into the floor.

“Air”
You stop all this reading and deciphering. Your body normalizes, though you can't help but wonder what the Truth was.
The tablet is smashed to pieces, energy expelled from the tablet seeps into your body.

You feel refreshed!

Which option to take

One step, maybe two: 3 Max HP for a random upgrade is fine, 9 total for two is still fair early in Overgrowth. Never take the third; 12 more Max HP is a rest site of healing for one random upgrade.

Max HP−3UpgradeA random cardDeathCan kill you

Smash

Heal20 HP
  • Smash if you are hurt.

How it plays

  • Decipher is a chain. Each step costs Max HP and upgrades one random upgradable card: 3, then 6, then 12, then 24.
  • The fifth step costs everything but 1 Max HP and upgrades every card in your deck.
  • After each step you can Give Up and leave.
  • If a step's cost is at least your current Max HP, the option warns that it will kill you, and it does.
  • Smash: heals 20 HP and ends the event.
