How to beat Two-Tailed Rats

The pack

  • Two-Tailed Rats: three of them, 17 to 21 HP each, spread across a five-slot room with two empty slots.
  • Each rat starts on a different move, Scratch for 8, Disease Bite for 6 or Screech for 1 Frail, then picks at random among those three, never the same one twice and Screech at most once per three moves.

Call for Backup

  • After a rat has taken two turns it can summon another rat into an empty slot. When that option is open it is chosen three times in four, with each rat calling at most once and the pack limited to three calls in a combat.
  • The fight snowballs unless you cut it short: every rat you kill in the first two turns is a rat that never calls, and area damage that clears two or three at once ends it before any backup arrives.
  • Single-target decks should still kill rather than block, since each rat only hits for 6 to 8.

At higher Ascension

  • Ascension 8+: 18 to 22 HP each. Ascension 9+: Scratch 9, Disease Bite 7.

Where it appears

The rat appears in no other encounter. Summoned rats start on a random move and need two turns of their own before they can call.
