Turn 1

How to beat Byrdpip

  • Byrdpip is not something you fight: it is the pet that the Byrdpip relic summons on your side before every combat.
  • You get the relic from the Hatch option at a rest site, which also transforms every Byrdonis Egg in your deck, and in your combat cards if you are mid-fight, into Byrd Swoop, a 0-cost Attack for 14 damage (18 upgraded).
  • When you play Byrd Swoop, the pet plays the attack animation and the hit sound, but the damage comes from the card, not from the creature.
  • The monster entry exists only so the pet can stand in the fight and animate.

Notes

  • 9999 HP so it can never die by accident, and its health bar is hidden.
  • It is in no encounter and has no ascension values.
  • The relic rolls one of four skins when obtained, and the pet reads that skin from the relic on your character, so the same Byrdpip looks the same all run.

From the code

Byrdpip is a pet that follows you into every fight once you hold the Byrdpip relic, not an enemy: it takes no turn of its own and acts through the Byrd Swoop card; its 9999 HP is a sentinel value and its health bar is hidden.
